What a waste

Our Brian Holmes points out an extract from Waterscape stoppage notices on 22nd October:

'Grantham Canal—between Bassingfield and Cotrgave Bridge, Monday 1 November 2010—Friday 19 November 2010.

There will be work to the towpath being carried out for about 4 weeks. It will only be Monday to Friday. It will be open at weekends but there may be restrictions on the width. The work is being carried out to improve the safety of users.
Customers are asked not to walk along the section of towpath while the work is being done.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused. The towpath is also closed.'

Waste of money

I hope the boaters on the Grantham Canal will be delighted with the improvements.  What a waste of money

I can think of many sections of towpath alongside well used canals that would benefit from about one day of work, never mind four weeks—whatever are they going to do?
