Man thrown into canal

A MAN was attacked on the towpath of the Rochdale Canal on Sunday (17th October) and thrown into the waterway.

This occurred at Todmorden with the man being attacked by a gang of men, but was then pulled out of the water by one of the man's friends, but had to be taken to hospital needing surgery to his face, Mike Fretwell tells us.

Outside Golden Lion

This happened on the towpath, outside the Golden Lion in the town, and the police want to trace a group of men described as white and aged between 20 and 25.

The victim was taken to Calderdale Royal Hospital, but was then transferred to Bradford Royal Infirmary for the surgery.
