RESIDENTIAL MOORINGS ON THE CAM in Cambridge were closed in 2022 as locks were being repaired.
But there are 25 boaters waiting for permanent moorings on the river and nine boats mooring without permission and another two boats believed to be in breach of licence conditions, Janet Friend reports.
However the moorings are believed to be reopened in the spring.
Installed fencing and solar panels
Another problem is that boaters have installed fencing and solar panels along their moorings that are in places preventing access to the river.
But the terms and conditions of residential mooring licence prohibit any temporary or permanent structures on the riverbank beside moored boats. If occupants fail to remove them when instructed the council can terminate the licence.
The moorings were closed as two locks were being repaired, but these have now reopened, so action will be taken against the illegal moorers.
