WEDNESDAY OF THIS WEEK sees the Leicester Section reopened from Watford Flight to Kilby Lock 30 at Wigston.
That has been closed for most of the summer, Keith Gudgin reports.
This of course includes Foxton Locks, that will also be open on Wednesday 29th but it is 'subject to review on Friday the 7th November'.
But boats will only be allowed from 10am until 3pm daily, with the last boat allowed in at Watford and Foxton Lock flights at 2pm, to save water.
Will remain closed
Unfortunately, the section from Kilby Lock 30 (pictured) to Kings Lock 38 where the canal joins the Soar, will remain closed to navigation as water levels have not yet sufficiently recovered.
There is the warning that despite the measures the trust is taking to open the sections, extreme local circumstances may require action that makes it necessary to temporarily close some pounds to navigation.
