Another Leeds & Liverpool Swing Bridge fails but two repaired

THIS TIME it is not a regular bridge failure but Snaygill Swing Bridge 181.

This is one that has lasted well but it seems lack of regular maintenance has caught up with it as it it closed 'due to a mechanical failure', Keith Gudgin reports. (Pictured.)

We or told the trust's contractor will be on site today with a chance of repair.

But as one swing bridge closes another is repaired and open to navigation.

New Lane Swing Bridge, also on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal that failed on Tuesday of this week has been repaired with navigation resumed.

And yet another, Copperus Lane Swing Bridge 15 on the Ashton Canal has now been repaired and navigation has resumed.

The stoppage was caused again by a 'mechanical fault.
