Watford Flight reopens
WATFORD FLIGHT on the Leicester Section of the Grand Union Canal was closed on Friday 6th of this month.
This was caused by Lock 5 becoming inoperable and the flight having to be closed, Keith Gudgin reported.
Work to repair the lock gate has been successfully completed and the flight was open to navigation again this morning at 8am.
With many boaters booked in to use the flight we are told that multiple teams from across the trust were on site when a gate on the lock had come out of its socket, so they organised specialist equipment to lift the gate back into position.
This arrived yesterday, and the work has been completed with the gate lowered back into position.
Leeds & Liverpool
Navigation between locks 85 and 86 of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and Lock 1 of the Leigh Branch was halted due to low water levels on Tuesday.
The teams have successfully raised the water levels in the affected pounds and normal navigation has been resumed this morning.
