Luxury 'residence' for sale on the Thames
SHOULD ANY liveaboard want more space yet still want to live on the water there is a very exclusive houseboat for sale on the Thames.
This is by the six acres Taggs Island on the river near Hampton Court, Janet Friend reports.
Luxury
It is a luxury three bedroom houseboat named Half Mile and is on sale with estate agent Walker Hall, priced at £800,000.
It measures around 1,330 sq ft, and comes with a garden and a studio, with a mooring fee of just under £3,000.
Taggs Island has been inhabited since the 1850s and was a rather fashionable Edwardian holiday destination then complete with a luxury hotel that has since been demolished.
About 100 people live on the island in houseboats either around its shores or around the lagoon in the island.
Amazing community
The former resident of the houseboat tells:
“The community here is amazing. They do coffee mornings and dinner parties, and there is a summer festival, fireworks, and carol singing.”
Access to Taggs Island is via a road bridge, with Hampton Court Station a mile away and central London 13 miles away.
