Body found in Leicester Section

A DEAD body was discovered in the Leicester Section of the Grand Union Canal on Saturday.

It was pulled out with the police investigating the death who tell that it is ‘unexplained’, Keith Gudgin reports.

So far no other details have been given by the Leicester Police, other than that no formal identification had yet taken place.

Emergency services

The emergency services were called to the scene at Blackfriers Bridge at 8.25am on Saturday and specialist officers were called in to retrieve the body from the water.

Both the waterway and footpath were closed at the time and there is not intimation if still closed. Photograph by Leicester Police.
