Man threatened to throw nine year old girl and mother into canal

A NINE years old girl and her mother were threatened by an aggressive man who boasted he would thrown them into the Union Canal.

The terrifying encounter took place at Meggetland as the pair were cycling along the towpath last Thursday evening, Keith Gudgin reports.

The man, was described as being in his 50s or 60s, blocked the young girl's path then made violent threats towards both her and her mother.

The man accused them of cycling too fast, leaving the young girl 'petrified' after he threatened to throw her into the waterway.

"Then he said the 'F word' and I'm going to throw you into the canal. I was petrified."

The schoolgirl described the man as having big bulgy staring eyes, a bald head and being huge. Telling he was using the 'g' word all the time.

They eventually escaped and cycled really fast to get away from him.
