Another lock repair will take longer

THE damaged cill on Lock 84 on the Wigan Flight on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal is to take longer to repair.

This has been caused by the large concrete arrowhead, which is part of the cill, having lifted, Keith Gudgin reports.

New one installed

This means it will have to be removed and a new one installed.

Due to its complexity and access requirements, this work will now take longer than originally anticipated. So the extra work is expected to take until Monday 17th June before the navigation is reopened—a week later that originally expected.

With the Wigan Flight of course closed until this date.
