Boatyard fire

A BLAZE engulfed Lyons Boatyard last week.

No one was hurt in the fire that destroyed the workshop, Roger Fox reports.

It was stated that crews from seven fire stations attended the fire at the premises on the Stratford Canal in Highters Heath, Birmingham.

Started accidentally

The fire was reported at 3am in the morning, with investigations confirming that the blaze started accidentally.

Such was the blaze that an hydraulic aerial platform was also sent to the scene, with firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguishing the fire. The fire people revisited the scene the following morning to damp down hotspots, with further visits throughout the day.
