Two closures yesterday

THERE were two closures yesterday, Wednesday 27th February.

With both the Pocklington Canal and the Ouse both closed to navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.

The Pocklington Canal has a failure at Coates Lock (5) with a fault on the down-stream gate so passage is not possible through the lock.

It will be de-watered and repairs undertaken the week commencing 4th March and should be completed by the 10th March.

Ouse

The Ouse is closed at Cawood Swingbridge, it being unable to swing.

It is North Yorkshire Highways that have advised that a fault has developed with the river swingbridge and it is unable to swing.

The navigation is closed, but contractors should be onsite on the 29th February to assess the work  that is needed for its repair.
