THERE has been a sexual assault on a teenage girl on the Coventry Canal towpath.
The girl was walking along the towpath in Nuneaton when she was grabbed by a man and sexually assaulted, Keith Gudgin reports.
She was reported to have been very distressed by the assault, with the police now asking people who may have been on the towpath or passing on a boat just before 4pm on the 8th of this month to come forward should they have seen anything of a man in his mid twenties, shown in the image.
Warwickshire Police, investigating the attack, have obtained CCTV images with the girl pointing out the man who attacked her. The police would like to speak to this man in connection with this sexual assault, or to anyone who recognises him to get in touch
Detective Inspector Paul Sartoris explained:
“This is an extremely concerning incident and we’re keen to identify the offender as quickly as possible. The victim is understandably very shaken by the incident, and we are making sure she gets the support she needs."
