THOUGH controlled navigation is being allowed today, Monday, on a building, after this the Rochdale Canal will remain closed.
This is caused by an unsafe third party building that became unsafe on the 21st August with the waterway being closed for safety reasons between locks 41 ans 43 on the summit, Keith Gudgin reports.
Started work
Contractors have started work on the building, but only allowing the one day controlled passage for those customers with a booking for the Summit Locks.
After this the navigation will remain closed until the third-party contractors are able to make the area safe, with the work expected to be completed in early September.
