IT WAS in late June that the Huddersfield Narrow was closed between Locks 1E and 3E.

We were told this was due to water resources and access issues, Keith Gudgin reports.

Since then various reasons have been given for the problem, being told the water level was dropping in the pound, then that it was the lock itself, then it needed grouting.

Water level falling

During this time the water level kept falling, coming up then falling again so the navigation was closed throughout.

But now it has at last been revealed that the 'water loss is voidng', that could take just four to six days to complete, after it is started on Thursday.
