THE Peak Forest Lift Bridge (24) repair will not be a quick fix.

It was on the 8th of June that it failed owing to an 'electronic fault, was repaired and failed again on the 20th, once again with a 'fault', as Keith Gudgin reported.

Wood EndNavigation closed

But the 'fault' is now described as 'damage by a third party', with the bridge being visited, inspected and now in its closed position, with navigation stopped.

The trust is now 'undertaking the evaluation and engineering assessments necessary to determine requirements for its repair'.

This week, as a temporary measure, teams are securing the frame in position making the structure safe to resume road access to neighbouring residents.

Closed for several weeks

To undertake a permanent repair to resume navigation, it is anticipated this bridge will be closed for several weeks.
