HS2 over the Oxford Canal

DETAILS have been released of the bridge that will carry the HS2 over the Oxford Canal.

The constructors have agreed to local pressure and to use ironstone facing to the bridge instead of plain concrete, that will be quarried in Warwickshire.

Oxford Canal Viaduct

The bridge is to be named the Oxford Canal Viaduct, and will pass over the waterway near to the village of Wormleighton above Fenny Compton.

It was the local residents that voted for ironstone to be used. The illustration is an artist's impression of the finished bridge.
