Two possible canal breaches

BOTH the Trent & Mersey and Peak Forest canals were closed due to possible breaches.

The Trent & Mersey Canal lost its water along the Stoke locks from 36 to 40 with a suspected breach on the waterway with it closed, Keith Gudgin reports.

But then later yesterday, Wednesday, it was told the reason was found and stopped but no details were given by Canal & River Trust.

Peak Forest Canal

The Peak Forest Canal lost its water between Stanley Lift Bridge (1) and Well Bridge (3) with a suspected breach and the navigation closed.

This time the towpath too is closed as it seems more serious as we are only told an update will be given after it has been inspected.
