Low water levels but no blame

LOW water levels at Winkwell Locks closed the Grand Union over the week-end but no blame!

The lack of water at locks 51 to 59 at Berkhamsted closed the navigation, with Canal & River Trust telling that its team was on hand allowing water down, Keith Gudgin reports.

Stoppage notice

This  it adds will take time, so there is no intimation when it will be completed, though the stoppage notice states 'Navigation: open'!

This time there was no blame on vandals, boaters or even lack of rain, so we can assume leaking lock gates were the reason for the problem.

In this location it is usually Winkwell Swing Bridge that causes the stoppages, but at the moment this is working!
