Boater injured at Fradley

A BOATER was injured after a coping stone collapsed at Fradley services on the Trent & Mersey Canal, so there is now no water available.

Ralph Freeman tells us that the boater was filling his tank on Mayflower, when he fell, it is believed caused by the collapse of a coping stone he was standing on at the waters edge.

The boater was taken to hospital and kept in overnight for observation.  As a result of the collapsing coping stones, shown in Ralph's picture, the water point at Fradley has been cordoned off. Alternative water points are available on the Coventry Canal and at nearby Alrewas.
