Two more bodies discovered in the waterways

A BODY was discovered in the Kennet & Avon Canal over the the weekend.

The emergency services were at Caen Hill Flight on Saturday and Sunday after a body was seen in the waterway, Keith Gudgin reports.

Quickly on the scene

It was a walker who noticed the body in the water and immediately alerted the emergency services, that were quickly on the scene on Saturday.

Both the waterway and towpath were sealed off whilst investigation took place to discover what had occurred  and the identity of the person found dead.

Another body

Another body, this time the body of a man, was discovered in the Rochdale Canal at Newton Heath, Manchester, this morning.

It was magnet fishing men who reported that they were concerned about the welfare of a man in the water, with the emergency services being called, but when he was pulled out he was confirmed dead at the scene.

Enquiries are underway to identify the man and the circumstances behind the incident.
