THE teenager who pushed a pensioner into the Mersey then ran away laughing, has been jailed.

Benjamin Bridgeman was sentenced to 10 weeks in prison by Warrington Crown Court for pushing into the cold river a 74 years old man who was sitting fishing, it being filmed on Snapchat, Keith Gudgin reports.

Frankly sickening

The judge described his action as a 'frankly sickening' attack on the helpless victim who was not in any way connecting with the teenager.

He was saved by two 14 years old girls, friends Khloe Woods and Ellie Hughes, who had rushed to help seeing him struggling in the water and who formed a human chain to rescue him.

Bridgeman had explained his behaviour by saying: 'everyone makes mistakes' and that he didn't realise his victim was 74 years old.
