Now its five stoppages this week

THE stoppage of the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigation makes it five stoppages this week.

Again it is a lock failure, this time at Mexborough Top Lock that occurred yesterday, Keith Gudgin reports.

Hydraulics failing

'Structure failure' is the reason given for the stoppage, with the hydraulics failing making the lock inoperable.

We are told contractors will be carrying out investigation and possible repair work today, Thursday, so there is the hope of just a short stoppage.
