WITH breaches, landslides and now trees blocking the Shropshire Union Canal, it's not very good for boaters.

woodseaves cutThe latest blockage for boaters and towpath users too,  is caused by trees down in Woodseaves Cutting, Keith Gudgin reports.

Steep embankment

Caused of course by the recent storm washing out the roots on the steep embankment, but we are told that contractors are hoping to clear those that are fallen, but there are doubts about reopening the navigation as there are other trees in precarious positions.

This stoppage is of course in addition to the others at present affecting the waterway, the breach at Beeston Iron Lock and the further breach at Audlem.

Not very good at all for boaters.

LATEST:

Another Shroppie problem, with the canal closed at Calveley Turnover Bridge (104) on the Chester section due to pollution and booms across to prevent it spreading, so closing the navigation.
