Sunken boat removed

THE Canal & River Trust was very quick indeed at removing the sunken boat on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.
Though this occurred on Friday, the waterway it tells is now open, with removal being undertaken over the week-end, Keith Gudgin reports.
Damage to lock gate
The sinking was at Higherland Lock (32) and though there was mention of damage to the lock gate in a stoppage notice, this has proven to be slight enough to allow the navigation to re-open.
However, in the two stoppage notices there was no mention whatsoever of a sunken boat. Just that 'craft has now been recovered from the waterway and navigation has been re-opened'.
