Broken lock closes another canal

THE latest in the saga of broken locks is Ivinghoe Lock (32) on the Grand Union.
This time the bottom gate heel post has broken and so has closed the lock until further notice, Keith Gudgin reports.
Canal & River Trust state that the navigation has been closed 'to manage water levels and repairs'.
Leeds & Liverpool repair failed
The attempt to repair the broken Leeds & Liverpool lock on the Barrowford Flight on Monday failed, and another attempt is to be made today (Wednesday).
It is a broken cill that is the problem.
