This is getting stupid

THERE have been many complaints concerning the 'unusual' contents of stoppage notices giving strange information, but the latest cannot be understood.

It again concerns the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigation at Tinsley in Sheffield, with the navigation closed, again at the lock flight, Keith Gudgin reports.

Intersection

It reads:  Intersection of Lock 1 Tinsley to Tinsley No.12 Lock on Sheffield & Tinsley Canal and Holmes Lock to Holmes Lock on Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigations.  Friday 29 July 2016 23:00 until further notice.

The notice also contains the information that contractors are repairing the lock quadrants and towpath around lock 7.

Not understood

It is not understood what is meant by 'intersection'—there isn't one—and surely the closure is not going  to last until Friday 29th July 2016?  Not even a typographical error as the 29th of July this year is on a Wednesday.

This continuing shambles of stoppage notices it now reflecting badly on Canal & River Trust, as the notices are obviously produced by someone with no knowledge of the waterways and are certainly not checked.
