The disgrace of the Anderton Boat Lift

THERE is a shambolic situation at present with the Anderton Boat Lift.
The management is refusing to undertake any private passages whatsoever, not even considering a booking system.
No initiative to open
All the staff are on furlough and there seems to be no initiative to reopen the lift until it can generate an income from boat trips and cafe etc.
But worse, notwithstanding the intimation from Canal & River Trust that no boats will be marooned on the Weaver, there are many trapped on the river unable to get back to their bases on the system.
No business
Businesses too are suffering, with such as the Northwich Dry Dock Company having no business because boats with bookings are of course not allowed to use the lift to get to its premises.
