Waterways re-open

THE Canal & River Trust has re-opened some of its closed waterways after the rainfall.

Parts of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal have been re-opened with navigation reinstated from River Lock in Leeds to Newlay Lock that was closed owing to lack of water. Bingley Five Rise too has re-opened but with restrictions.

Rochdale Canal

The closed section of the Rochdale Canal from Tuel Lane Locks to Lock 34 on the eastern end is now fully open.  Other sections of the waterway are being re-opened but with restrictions.

The Kennet & Avon Canal summit pound is once again open to full navigation as the water level has increased on the pound.

On the Lancaster Canal the Glasson flight is now open to boat traffic.

Stratford Canal cill repaired

With the repair to the cill of Wilmcote Bottom Lock on the Stratford Canal, the waterway is once again open to boating.
