SWANS disappearing from the Thames is leading people to believe they are being killed for food.

Such is the concern that the police have been called in at Windsor to investigate the disappearance of swans, with one being found covered in blood, which has also gone.

The disappearance of the swans from the river has led to fears that they are being illegally killed and eaten.

Inspector Pete Dalton of Windsor Police emphasised that swans were a protected species, and stated:

"We would ask anyone who sees anything suspicious while they are fishing or boating to let us know."
