Why do they need 'sausages'?

I AM amazed at the effort taken by CaRT to anchor their vegetation sausages on the approach to Bedworth, writes Roger Fox.

SausageI question why they need them there at all. Why does it require 18 posts to hold one sausage in place?

Sunken hulls

On the opposite side of the canal are several sunken hulls (one pictured below) which have been there for 40y years to my certain knowledge and which display fine arrays of greenery.

Just around the corner at Bedworth we found our only example this year of recent hedgelaying. Full marks!
