WE ARE all aware that there are some really silly contents to the notices sent out to boats by Canal & River Trust, and the latest one telling us to conserve water lives up to expectations.

But we should all be pleasd to learn that CaRT is 'continuing our works on leakage reduction and repairs to lock paddles and gates', and to help is asking boaters to report any leaks—just how many would it like to know about?  How about nearly every lock?

As usual when it looks like the waterway is running dry the Wigan flight paddles are locked-up, with as usual vandals being blamed—never the leaking gates as pictured!

Lock keepers

But the best is the advice that if you see any inexperienced boaters who need help with paddles or gates, provide assistance—or let a lock keeper know..!
