Mon & Brec closed again

THE Mon & Brec is closed, this time by a lift bridge failure.

Talybont Lift Bridge (144) at Usk on the Mon & Brec is no longer working so is in its closed position, being unable to be lifted, Keith Gudgin tells us.

In need of repair

As with other recent lift nd swing bridge failures, it is in need of repair, with the waterway closed today (Thursday) until further notice.

Canal & River Trust explained it is taking 'every step' to repair the bridge as soon as possible.  But many boaters believe that prior maintenance to the many lift and swing bridges that are currently failing would avert the problem of so many closures.

The bridge has been repaired and is now in full working order.
