How accurate will the survey be?

THE report by Paul Lillie of Pillings Lock Marina that he was the only one of 280 boaters at his marina who had received the Boaters Survey to complete, and so it was not being widely circulated, is correct.

We too were unable to discover anyone who had received a request to complete the survey.

Another one

But this morning we received an email from Alan Baker who had received a request to complete the boaters' survey, sending us a copy of the request to peruse.

Canal & River Trust state it is 'really keen to find out from you how we are doing, whether you have any suggestions on how we can do better or if there are any improvements that you’d like to see us make at your mooring site', going on to point out 'Your views are really important to us—all the data we gather will help us inform and hopefully improve the service we provide you with—so we do encourage you to complete it. A summary of the findings will be made available later this year'.

It would seem the published results of this survey by the Trust will be as accurate as those recently published claiming that 'boaters satisfaction with its waterways has increased in the past year', that again was from only a selected few boaters.

Used the experts

In the past a professional company was used to ascertain such things, giving fairly accurate results.

But no longer, the Trust prefers to do it its own way, but to quote Paul Lillie—How on earth can CaRT get an accurate picture?
