The waste that are CaRT's surveys

I FILLED out the Boaters Survey. From memory I was particularly harsh towards CaRT, writes Paul Lillie.

My topics included the lack of servicing on our Loughborough Section of the Grand Union canal (Loughborough Lock had a high five figure refurbish in January 2014 yet still leaks like a net stocking). Pilling’s Lock cannot be opened by anyone other than Geoff Capes as it too leaks so much.

Spending on lawers

The unfair payment of the NAA in an area where no other Marina pays it, the massive amount CaRT is spending on lawyers rather than actually engaging the Boating Trade, in particular the non removal of on-line moorings in accordance with the OLMR Documents (which seem to have been removed from CaRT’s website now) and the lack of action on specifically two continual cruising boats that have hung around this stretch for 10 years now.

Being on this section for 10 years and seeing faults exist from year to year plus poor work done when it was tackled is very annoying.

Only one out of 280 boaters

I sent a round-robbin email to all my clients—no one else had had the survey. I was also the ONLY person out of 280 berth holders here, who received an email to click the link and complete the survey. My link was sent via our Hire Boat Licence on one of our day boats.

How on earth can CaRT get an accurate picture by surveying one person in a 320 berth marina?!
