Burgled narrowboat sinks

A cruiser style narrowboat left unattended at the top of the Coventry Canal near Fradley has been burgled and has now sunk.

The owner maintains that the boat had been burgled whilst he was away with coal and an outboard engine stolen, but he had left it 'in the sticks' by bridge 91 well outside the village, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Left for weeks

It had been left there for weeks, with no one aboard, and sank yesterday, Thursday.

Canal & River Trust warn boaters that the boat has been marked with warning tape and signs have been put out but caution should be taken and boat traffic should stay to the centre of the channel.

The boat is due to be removed soon within the next few days.
