THE badly damaged Bishopton Bridge on the Stratford-on-Avon Canal has now been repaired.

It required the pound draining to get at the foundations, that needed work, but them the work progresed well, according to Canal & River Trust, but it revealed that the canal bridge was in a ‘poor’ condition, Roger Fox tells us.

Weight limit

The bridge had become a rat-run for motorists, with one vehicle dislodging the parapet, and obviously overweight vehicles also using the route over the bridge, as it condition proved.

This meant it being closed for a month, but has now been re-opened and the 7.5 tonnes maximum weight signs clearly visible.
