Another bridge clouted—update

THERE has been yet another canal bridge clouted by a car and again it closes the waterway.

This time it is on the Aylesbury Arm of the Grand Union Canal and yet again the bridge parapet has been left in a precarious state, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Assess the situation

This is Bridge 15 at Broughton just East of Aylesbury, with the waterway closed until engineers can assess the situation.

UPDATE

 

The bridge is considered safe for navigation and was re-opened at 3pm today. Road traffic however is still prohibited.
