Staffs & Worcs closed

THE Staffs & Worcs was closed yesterday (Tuesday) above its junction with the Stourbridge Canal at Rocky Lock.

This has been caused by the collapse of a section of the by-wash culvert of the lock, Keith Gudgin tells us.

It is necessary to close both the navigation and towpath for the duration of the works, but it is not known how long this will take.

We understand that due to the location of the collapse and the need to stabilise the edges of the void, it is necessary to extend the sides of the excavation with the need to lower the water level within this pound below the lock until the repair has been completed.
