THE Canal & River Trust engineers have inspected the problems of the various locks on the South Stratford, and have decided to undertake the necessary repairs.

This all stems back to the failed wall below Lock 42, but includes repairs to other locks on the waterway, with it being dewatered, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Repairs

This includes work on Bridge 63 to its wall. Top and Bottom gate repairs and masonry repairs within the lock chamber on Lock 42. Top gate repairs and masonry repairs within the chamber of Lock 46. Bottom gate replacement of Lock 51.

This has now become a matter of urgency, with the original opening date of the 17th March now the 31st March.
