Better for cyclists

IT SEEMS that Canal & River Trust is promoting faster cycling on London towpaths, notwithstanding the clamour against it.

The towpath at the Paddington Arm is being closed for a month from the 14th March to the 14th April to facilitate a better surface for cyclists, by widening and resurfacing, Keith Gudgin tells us.

No moorings for a month

But the closure of the towpath means that there will be no moorings for boats for a month during the period of the resurfacing—from the 14th March  to the 14th April.

The Trust relates that this will increase the amount of space for all users and improve the condition of the towpath surface, obviously for cyclists.

We are not told how much this extensive work will cost.
