Volunteers to clean-up canal

GONE are the days when Canal & River Trust people cleaned-up the canals, now it relies on volunteers.

It is now the Grand Union Canal in Leamington that needs rubbish moving away, and once again the Trust is asking for volunteers to do it, Roger Fox Tells us.

Both the Inland Waterways Association and the Trust are inviting people to help them drag rubbish out of the canal on Sunday 19th March.

Meet on the towpath

The cleaning team will meet on the towpath at Warwick Old Road, opposite Morrison's, at 9.30am to distribute equipment and be given a safety briefing before starting at 10am.

All equipment and gloves will be provided and volunteers are advised to wear sturdy footwear and appropriate clothing. Anyone is welcome but under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
