Email: Don't be put of the 'Narrow'

Published: Monday, 27 February 2017

Adrian Walker's complaints about the Huddersfield Narrow Canal follow in a long tradition starting from when it was re-opened.

The canal is in fact far better than it was in those days, when it was only for the enthusiast. It is my usual route South from Sowerby Bridge, and having traversed it 12 times now, 10 of them single-handed (so much for 'single-handers have no chance'!), I can honestly say that it is now no longer even the most difficult canal in the area for a single-handed boater. (The Calder and Hebble probably takes that prize.)

So don't let Adrian's article put you off. The HNC is almost like a normal canal these days (but not quite, thank goodness).
