Coombeswood Open Weekend

Published: Friday, 24 February 2017

The Coombeswood Canal Trust is once again holding an Open Weekend giving visitors the chance to visit Hawne Basin.

This will give them the opportunity to  learn about the work of the Trust in promoting the use of the Dudley Number 2 Canal and to have a day out for the whole family to enjoy.

Activities

Over the weekend there will be displays of traditional crafts, stalls from local organisations, charities and waterways society displays, as well as other activities, games and entertainment. There will be historic canal boats on display and there will be the opportunity to take a canal boat trip up to Gosty Hill Tunnel.

This year the weekend will also record the passing of 50 years since the closure of Stewarts & Lloyds Coombeswood Tube Works. There will be visiting former Stewarts & Lloyds tugs and boats as well as other displays relating to the works itself.
