Wood End Lock paddle finally 'repaired'

AS PROMISED by Canal & River Trust, the ground paddle at Wood End Lock has finally been 'repaired'.

This occurred yesterday, after the paddle had been out of action for nearly a year, when workers attended, drained the lock and discovered the reason for its failure.

It was not an actual paddle failure but two vehicle tyres stuck in the water channel against the paddle itself.

Draining the lock the tyres were quickly removed and the paddle again back in action.
