JANUARY is of course the month of sales—with even boat trip organisers having special offers.

Dudley Canal and Tunnel Trust is offering its boat trips into the tunnels at less than half price for the month to drum-up business, Alan Tilbury reports.

Sale price

Usually charged at £6.95 the trips are being offered at the sale price of just £3 from Monday 16th January.

The boat will take people into the Dudley tunnel and limestone mines with the trip including on-board commentary, a music and light show in the Singing Cavern, a video show explaining how limestone was formed in Little Tess Cavern and displays in Hurst Cavern, depicting miners working during the 18th century.

Encourage new people

Heritage Activities Officer, Sarah Fellows, explained:

"We hope these specially discounted tickets will encourage many new people to visit the tunnels to marvel at these incredible limestone caverns carved by man, and enjoy the exhibition and restaurant at our stunning new award-winning Portal visitor centre."

Trips run from 10.30am to 3pm.
People who are able to gift aid their purchase will also receive a return ticket valid throughout 2017.
Children under three go free but still require a ticket.
