Wood End paddle to be repaired!

ROGER FOX tells us he could hardly believe his eyes when he read yesterday's Stoppage Notice from CaRT.

This was announcing that it is to attempt to sort out the blocked top paddle at Wood End Lock on the Trent & Mersey Canal on Thursday 12th January.

Celebrate the reopening

It has been out of action for so long and the subject of many mentions on narrowboatworld, that he suggests we hopefully, celebrate the official reopening of the paddle! It would be a good start to 2017 if the work is successful.

We are not sure how long it has been well wrapped-up, this picture was taken in May of last year, and rumour has it that it was out of action the year before, but being so well covered for so long, won't it be rather cold if left open to the elements?
