Marina hosts major fireworks display

BRITISH Waterways Marinas Ltd (BWML) is hosting a major event to start off Hull's year as City of Culture with a giant fireworks display at Hull Marina on New Year's Day.

Lock operations at the marina will be closed on the day from approximately 4pm to the end of the fireworks display, at about 10pm.  and due to the local crowd controls in place with the council, the routes into the marina will only be accessible between 4pm and 10.30pm for those with wristbands (which BWML will supply in advance to berth holders who request them at the marina office) that are available now.

Residential berth holders

Residential berth holders will have them delivered automatically. If possible, visitors are requested to arrive at the marina before 3pm to avoid the crowd control measures on the approaching roads.

Commented Phil Parkinson of BWML:

"The event will be even bigger than London's New Year celebrations, and what better way could there be to usher in the start of Hull's year as Capital of Culture than to hold a giant fireworks display? We are delighted to be hosting it, and look forward to welcoming visitors to Hull Marina."
