Aire & Calder closed

THE failure of Woodnook Lock, West of Castleford has closed the Aire & Calder Navigation.
The navigation was closed yesterday (Wednesday) 'until further notice', Keith Gudgin tells us.
Engineering problems
The only reason given for its closure is 'due to engineering problems', but it is understood the the problem requires new parts to be manufactured.
Earlier it was stated that the lock would be useable before 8am and after 4pm.
