Swing bridge gets repaired

NEEDLESS to say there has been another stoppage on the Kennet & Avon Canal—Sheffield Swing Bridge, that is out of action again.

It was in late August that the bridge broke, closing the navigation, but was temporarily repaired with staff on hand to assist boaters through, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Full repairs

Full repairs to the bridge will be carried out today (Friday 23rd) the navigation being closed whilst work is being carried out.

The bridge had suffered two breakdowns this year, one on the 20th July and the other on the 31st August.
